Let’s Get Started!
You’ve selected the type of carpeting you want and finally settled on the perfect color, size, and yarn pattern that most complements your room. Now it’s time to install it – we’re here to make it happen!
Should you DIY or leave it to the professionals?
You have the potential to save money. You pay for the carpet, the padding, and renting the specialty tools, but you don’t have to pay for the labor. One thing to think about when deciding to make it a DIY project or delegate it to professional installers is the room itself. If the room is a small space, a room company won’t see often, and a room that doesn’t have a lot of oddities like stairs or heating vents to cut around (or you don’t live in a Victorian house with round rooms!), this likely is a situation where you can get your hands dirty and then pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
If you’re carpeting your whole house, including a massive living room, it might be wise to have the professionals handle it. We know how to use the specialty tools (knee-kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller) the proper way to cut the carpeting, and how to push seams together to make the transition subtle and look professional. Your carpet may not be covered under a warranty if you choose to DIY. Additionally, if you have had flooding or insect problems in the past, your sub flooring might be damaged. This should be fixed before the carpet installation. In such a case, a professional is probably the way to go. Like most DIY home projects, mistakes could cause you to spend more money in the long run if you have to hire trained installers to correct the mistakes. Sometimes the easiest thing is to leave it to the professionals.
