Porcelain Tiles

Porcelain tiles come in many colors and are extremely durable. A subtype of ceramic tile, porcelain has extraordinary design possibilities. Like ceramic tiles, these tiles are made from clay, but typically use denser clays than ceramic tiles do, and are baked at high temperatures for long periods of time, removing almost all of the water. Because the drying time is longer than it is for ceramics, porcelain is harder and denser than ceramic tile. Porcelain tiles generally cost more than ceramic, but they are more durable. Porcelain is also less porous, making it less likely to stain and easier to clean.

Where can porcelain tiles be used?

Porcelain tiles can be used for walls, floors, ceilings, countertops, showers, and backsplashes. Porcelain can also be used outdoors because of its lower moisture content compared to traditional ceramic tiles. Porcelain is, therefore, less likely to crack due to freezing.

Porcelain’s density allows it to withstand:
  • High foot traffic
  • Water absorption
  • Hot and cold weather
Key Benefits:
  • Durable surface
  • Long lasting
  • Easy to maintain
  • Can be made into a variety of beautiful designs
  • Expected to last longer than ceramic
  • Can be used both indoors and outdoors
